Miscarriage Therapists in Brighton & Hove

The Emotional Impact of Miscarriage

Miscarriage is a devastating loss that affects many individuals and couples. The emotional impact can include grief, sadness, guilt, and anger. The loss of a pregnancy can leave individuals feeling isolated, as they may struggle to share their pain or find the support they need. The grief that accompanies miscarriage is deeply personal, but counselling offers a supportive space for individuals and couples to process their loss.

How Counselling Helps After Miscarriage

Therapy provides a compassionate environment for individuals to explore their emotions after a miscarriage. Counsellors help individuals process their grief, work through feelings of guilt or blame, and navigate the complex emotions that arise after pregnancy loss. Counselling also offers support for couples who may be experiencing different emotional responses to the miscarriage.

Rebuilding Emotional Strength

Through therapy, individuals and couples can begin to rebuild their emotional strength and resilience. Counselling offers tools for coping with grief, managing emotional pain, and finding ways to move forward while honoring the memory of the lost pregnancy.

Supporting Relationships After Miscarriage

Miscarriage can put a strain on relationships, as individuals may grieve differently or struggle to communicate their feelings. Therapy helps couples strengthen their communication, support one another, and navigate the emotional challenges that arise after a loss.

Joanna Miller Brighton

Joanna Miller

Integrative Psychotherapist

I’m an accredited psychotherapist with 15 years experience.I believe that the counselling relationship should be a creative space for both parties. It should feel comfortable and open enough to be free from anxiety and pressure in which new perspectives can emerge. In my view most mental activity takes place below the level of conscious awareness and my role is to help people gain access to it and insights from it.As an accredited therapist I am affiliated with several private healthcare companies including BUPA and AXA. I have an up-to-date DBS certificate which is registered on the update service. As well as working with individual adults, including trainee therapists, I have many years' experience working with children, couples and families. I have been a university counsellor so have a lot of experience working with students and young people and have also worked in secondary schools.
